What is “Hate Crime”?

You have a few options if you live in Fife and need to report a hate crime.

You can report the incident directly to Police Scotland at Police Scotland Online Reporting

Alternatively, both Fife Centre for Equalities and Pink Saltire are recognised Third Party Reporting Centres.

Use their Hate Incident Reporting Page.

This is turning into a full time job

Many of you may be aware that I help coordinate a local Transgender support and social group. It is something I’ve been doing for the past four years or more.

The group has received much praise for the work it does and is well respected within the local community.

Through 2019, and especially toward the latter end of it, I felt that I was running out of the energy and motivation needed in order to continue to work for the group. I expressed my need to back away to the other Coordinator and we began to look for other group members who could step up and take over some of the responsibilities involved.

It was a slow process, but help was forthcoming and I was able to sit back in a more minor role and just keep my finger on the pulse.

Then, of course, 2020 happened.

Your experiences of Pride Marches – Research project

A student at St. Andrew’s University is currently conducting a research project exploring LGBT+ people and allies’ experiences of being involved in Pride parades.

For the project, she is conducting interviews via Skype and hopes to speak to as many people as she can from all across the UK, to make this study as representative as possible.

Unfortunately, she has not yet been able to interview many Trans people and so is concerned that their points of view may go unrepresented.

I’ve told her that I’ll be happy to participate, and if you would like to help out too then the details are in this poster along with her email address.

Any support would be greatly appreciated!

The Dorothy Relief Appeal

Dorothy1

(Promoting an appeal organised by Pink Saltire in Scotland, UK)

Ever heard that old queer phrase “a friend of Dorothy“?    Well listen, we saw a theme for a fundraiser and ran with it! ‍

Pick up your little basket, grab Toto and read on……

Do you want to support folk in need during this pandemic? We do.

Have you waited 5 weeks for ‘someone else’ to organise it?  Us too. Well kind of.

Pink Saltire, the Scottish LGBT community charity, are appealing for funds to support the ongoing relief effort helping those most in need during the COVID-19 pandemic or at risk of isolation.  There’s already relief efforts happening in Edinburgh, Dumfries & Galloway and Fife.  We know there is demand in other areas, especially for LGBT+ asylum seekers and refugees, but we can’t hope to meet that demand without extra help.

Help from folk like you. (Ruby slippers optional!) Continue reading

In a state of shock. Good shock!

Those of you who know me well will be aware that I have struggled financially for many years, my only personal income being some meagre pensions which I had to draw out many years too early in order to survive after my accident almost 13 years ago.

That is about to change.

Desperate for the knife, but not where you’d think

Well here’s a blog post I didn’t expect to be writing during this lifetime.

I went for a coffee with some friends yesterday evening, and during the conversation I showed them the problems I have with my feet. These are numerous, (the problems, not my feet), but the main non-medical issue is the size of them.

In order to be able to get ANY footwear on I need to buy a UK size 13, (EU 47, US 14, CM 31.5) and, because of the high instep and circulatory problems I have, a wide fitting is also needed.

This makes buying Men’s shoes really difficult, and women’s shoes virtually impossible, something which really jerks up the dysphoria rating.
